Product Facts

With this all-rounder from TYROLIT LIFE, cutting, dicing, and chopping meat, fish, and vegetables becomes almost effortless. The special hollow grind reduces food sticking to the blade, allowing for efficient and fast work in the kitchen. Compared to traditional knives, the TYROLIT LIFE Santoku knife features a slightly shorter and wider blade that extends well below the handle, providing maximum safety for your fingers.

Additionally, the indentations in the blade (hollow grind) reduce resistance while cutting and minimize food sticking. Due to its balance and ease of handling and cutting, this kitchen knife is especially popular among beginners and hobby cooks. You can purchase the Santoku knife online. What is a Santoku knife? Read more in our knife guide.

The blade

The Santoku knife is forged from a single piece of stainless steel (steel material 1.4116) and is repeatedly ice-hardened. The finely polished blade surfaces and balanced bevel lines along the cutting edges ensure long-lasting sharpness and excellent cutting performance.

the handle

The black, ergonomically shaped plastic handle provides a secure and comfortable grip, and impresses with its exceptionally attractive design and feel. The blade and handle are seamlessly and permanently connected.

TYROLIT LIFE Iceline

Here’s the English translation: --- The TYROLIT LIFE Iceline knife series is produced in close collaboration with the Tyrolean tool expert Stubai. All knives impress with their outstanding craftsmanship and durability. The stainless steel blades are forged from a single piece of high-quality steel (material 1.4116) and are treated with a multi-phase ice-hardening process, providing excellent corrosion protection. The perfectly balanced design between blade and handle ensures optimal comfort in hand. The dishwasher-safe materials comply with all relevant food safety and hygiene regulations.

Santoku knife

A professional knife is a must-have in any well-equipped kitchen. It allows for the preparation of a wide variety of dishes and contributes to the precise and gentle cutting of ingredients. The Santoku knife, a versatile all-purpose knife, is popular among both beginners and home cooks. The name of this originally Japanese chef’s knife derives from the words "San" and "Toku," which roughly translate to "three virtues." Considering that a Santoku knife effortlessly handles meat, fish, and vegetables, the name seems particularly fitting.

Santoku knife - the allrounder

In addition to their versatility, Santoku knives are particularly known for their uncompromising sharpness. The name refers to the special blade shape known as "Santoku" in Japanese. These all-purpose kitchen knives feature a very sharp blade with a flat top edge. The top edge and the handle of the knife form a straight line, and the blade extends quite wide, significantly overlapping the handle. This unique blade shape offers the advantage of a comfortable grip during cutting tasks while providing a safe shield for the fingers. Unlike regular meat knives, which can be quite heavy, a Santoku knife is lightweight. These exceptionally sharp all-purpose knives are designed primarily for the so-called "push cut" and offer an optimal balance between blade and handle.

Hollow Grind: The Special Feature of the Santoku Knife

The distinctive feature of a Santoku knife lies in its unique blade, which features a so-called hollow grind. Although the blade is quite wide, it is also very thin. Combined with an extremely high level of sharpness, this all-purpose knife allows for the finest cuts. Meat, fish, and vegetables can be chopped almost effortlessly without crushing the ingredients. The specially shaped blade helps prevent food from sticking, thereby minimizing any negative impact on the flavors of the food. Dishes prepared with a Santoku knife thus promise an exceptional taste experience.
