TYROLIT Life Iceline Cheese Knife with Cheese

High-quality cheese knives for aesthetic appeal

An exquisite cheese not only deserves to be savored but also requires stylish slicing. Hence, modern cheese knives are not just practical utensils; they double as an aesthetic highlight.

While knives for hard cheese boast a sturdy blade, the Tyrolit Life cheese knife features holes of varying sizes specifically designed for cutting soft cheese. The sharp blade ensures superior cutting quality: the openings minimize the contact area between the knife and the cheese, preventing the cheese from sticking.

The outcome: a beautifully sliced cheese that makes one reluctant to put the knife down.

The Blade

The handle

The black, ergonomically shaped plastic handle ensures good and safe handling and impresses with its exceptionally appealing design and feel. Blade and handle are joint-tight and inseparably connected.

Soft cheese knife, hard cheese knife or cheese slicer?

However, if you want to avoid pressed-in cheese pieces, you should opt for a high-quality cheese knife. Depending on the variety, a soft cheese knife, a cheese slicer or a hard cheese knife is often used.

Cheese can be cut with a normal chef’s knife. However, due to its consistency, this often leads to unsightly results.

Hard cheese and soft cheese have a different water content and thus a variable consistency. What both cheeses have in common is that they quickly stick to the blade or are pressed in when cutting with a commercially available kitchen knife.

Hard cheeses like Parmesan require more force to cut, therefore, specific parmesan knives are often used.

Alternatively, you can also cut hard cheese into wafer-thin slices with the cheese slicer or cheese cutter or chop them with the cheese grater.

Characteristic of cheese knives for cutting soft cheeses such as camembert, gorgonzola, mozzarella or cream cheese, on the other hand, are recesses on the blade: these holes prevent cheese from sticking to the knife, so that it can be beautifully draped on the cheese board.

The Tyrolit Life cheese knife is ideal for slicing soft cheese, as well as for cut cheeses like Emmentaler. Thanks to the large cutouts in the blade and the high-performance micro-serrated edge, it delivers superior cutting quality. Thus, your piece of cheese receives a straight and uniform cut, doesn’t stick to the blade, and isn’t squashed during cutting.

Properly caring for and cleaning the cheese knife

Proper care will keep your cheese knife’s blade sharp for a long time and ensure a longer lifespan. Immediately after use, you should wipe the knife with a damp cloth. The cloth should ideally be soft and lint-free. For hygienic results, warm water and a mild detergent are sufficient.

You should ideally always wash your cheese knife by hand. Even for dishwasher-safe materials, cleaning in the dishwasher is not recommended as the long duration of the cycle can dull the blade.

To prevent the blade from losing its sharpness during cutting, it is recommended to use cutting boards made of wood or plastic. Both materials provide a bit of give, thus preserving the knife’s edge.

By using a sharpening stone, you can regularly sharpen your cheese knife, ensuring not only a keen edge but also beautifully sliced pieces of cheese.
